Prize winners of both the Festival’s annual Open Poetry Competition and the new Liverpool City Region (LCR) Youth Poetry Competition will be invited to read their prizewinning poems and receive their cash prizes.

Wirral Poetry Festival has run an annual open poetry competition since 2011 (between 2011-2018 it was run under the auspices of the Wirral Festival of Firsts). Cash prizes ranging from £25 to £250 will be awarded to winning poets with some additional prizes for poets from the Liverpool City Region(LCR). The adjudicators were Helen Ivory, Martin Figura and Anna Saunders for the LCR entries.

Wirral Poetry Festival’s new free-to-enter youth poetry competition, generously supported by Richard and Julie Salmon and the Christopher Salmon Foundation, was open to young people aged between 11 and 18 years living or studying in the Liverpool City Region (LCR). Cash prizes ranging from £25 to £100 will be awarded to winning poets. The adjudicator was Judith Railton.
