POETRY PICNICS &
WORKSHOPS ARE
NOW VIRTUAL
Due to the regulations resulting from the pandemic, the Poetry Picnics and Workshops have been postponed and moved online.
Poetry Picnics usually combine a tour of one of Wirral’s notable features, green spaces or coastal scenery with the opportunity to write and share poems in a friendly workshop setting. The current regulations mean that the 2020 Poetry Picnics are on hold until they can be held safely.
Meanwhile we are delighted to offer a series of online virtual poetry picnics and poetry workshops. Poems developed at these workshops will be celebrated and shared at a future Wirral Poetry Festival event.
Our live video poetry chats will be held on Zoom – the live video conferencing service. It’s available to download for desktop and laptop PCs and Macs, tablets and smartphones and is free to download. https://zoom.us/download
My Favourite Book – an online workshop
Wednesday 18 November 2026 7-9pm
Tickets: FREE
Donations are always welcome to further the work of the festival
This is an online workshop to help us celebrate the year of reading through poetry, led by Judy Ugonna and Ali Harwood.
Join us as we share our favourite books with each other and then spend some time writing short poems about our favourite books and the act of reading. These could be short odes to the books we love or even just neatly turned haikus.
Participants will be invited to share their brief thoughts on why this book is special to them. and to read a few iconic lines from their chosen book.
When booking your place on the workshop, please let us know what book you have chosen so we can share the titles and authors with all participants in advance.
