Alison Schultz, an integral part of the festival’s Planning Team, has been appointed Wirral Libraries Poet in Residence and Ambassador for the National Year of Reading.
She will be delivering and hosting an exciting programme of events at Wallasey Central Library, Birkenhead, West Kirby and Bebington – all much loved spaces.
Events include workshops on improving performance and editing your work (limited places), open mic opportunities, a poetry slam, performances, children’s workshops and events where music and spoken word connect.
Alison is well known across Liverpool City Region as a musician and performance poet. She hosts and curates a monthly poets and songwriters night, Wordsmithery at Future Yard in Birkenhead well as being much anthologised.
She has 3 volumes out; Eyes on the Bright Horizon (2018), Observatory (2021) and The Hushed Passing of the Blue Hour (2025 Yaffle). She has another pamphlet due out this year, Ugly Shoes, which narrates her journey with MS and is to be endorsed by The Walton Centre and MS Society UK. A full collection is scheduled for 2027, to be called Night on my Mind, also published by Yaffle.
